Dhaka, June 15 -- Fresh details have emerged about corruption allegations and ongoing criminal cases against former Bangladesh police chief Benazir Ahmed following his arrest in Dubai.

Benazir, who served as inspector general of police (IGP) and previously as director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) under the Awami League government, retired in September 2022 after more than two years as police chief.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched an investigation into Benazir after local media reported extensive assets allegedly owned by him and his family.
