Dhaka, May 13 -- The government is formulating an academic calendar to stop "session jams" in universities -- long academic delays -- Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said.

He announced the plan while addressing the "IUT Excellence Award Ceremony" at the Islamic University of Technology in Gazipur on Wednesday.

"We'll start university admission processes in a way that stops session jams. Our target is to prepare the academic calendar by Dec 31," he said.

Milon added that the education ministry and policymakers should work to ensure that no student loses two academic years to "session jam".
