Dhaka, March 30 -- The University Grants Commission (UGC) has ordered the immediate suspension of all academic and administrative activities at unauthorised branch campuses and study centres of both local and foreign universities.

The regulatory body on Monday clarified that any branch campus, study centre, or tutorial centre operating without explicit government and UGC approval must halt operations.

Unauthorised universities and centres have been directed to submit formal applications for approval by Apr 25.

The UGC warned that failing to apply within the stipulated timeframe would result in swift legal measures against the institutions.
