Dhaka, April 9 -- Two people have been killed and at least 40 others have been injured in separate clashes in Derai Upazila of Sunamganj.

On Wednesday evening, violence broke out in Chhadipur and Rafinagar villages, where rival groups engaged in brawls that turned deadly.

In Chhadipur, a dispute over a paddy drying yard triggered a clash between factions led by Hamid Mia and Husein Mia.

During the fighting, Md Ahadul, 25, from Husein's group, was killed.

In Rafinagar, another clash unfolded over the feeding of ducks, involving rival groups aligned with Shafik Mia and Ashraf Mia.

Gias Uddin, 55, from Shafik's side, was killed in the violence.
