Dhaka, March 23 -- After legal complications led to their 16-month incarceration in the Habiganj prison despite being jailed for only 28 days, two Indian nationals have finally been repatriated.
They were handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) of India through the Balla Land Port of the district's Chunarughat Upazila on Monday afternoon, said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Nayek Subedar Abul Kalam.
According to the BGB, the paramilitary force arrested the duo -- Ajit Biswas and Samir Das -- on Dharmaghar near the Madhabpur border on charges of illegal infiltration on Dec 10, 2024.
Later on, a Habiganj court sentenced them to 28 days in prison.
However, legal complications meant they were deported back to their country about 16 ...
