Dhaka, July 30 -- A Dhaka court has sentenced two men to life imprisonment for robbing and murdering a vegetable trader near Gendaria more than 15 years ago.

On Thursday, Judge Mahmudul Islam of the Ninth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court delivered the verdict.

The convicts, Babu alias Bagha Babu and Mamun, were also sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment for robbery.

Public prosecutor Aminul Islam Sarkar said each was also fined Tk 10,000, with an additional six months in prison in default of payment.

For the robbery conviction, each was fined another Tk 5,000, with three months' imprisonment in default.
