Two die, 25 injured as one bus hits another in Gopalganj
Dhaka, June 5 -- Two passengers have been killed and at least 25 others injured after one bus slammed into another on the Dhaka-Barishal Highway in Gopalganj.
The crash occurred around 12am on Thursday near Raghdi of Muksudpur Upazila, said Md Sohel Khan, a sub-inspector (SI) at Bhanga Highway Police Station.
The dead were identified as Amitabh Hawlader, 42, from Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali, and Md Kamal, 30, from Sherpur district.
SI Sohel said a Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) bus travelling to Dhaka veered out of control and struck the Raghdi Bridge.
A Himel Simanta Paribahan bus travelling behind then crashed into the BRTC vehicle.
Several passengers from both buses were hurt in the impact.
