Dhaka, Feb. 18 -- Police have recovered the bodies of a man and a woman from Teknaf beach in Cox's Bazar.

The bodies were found on Wednesday morning at two separate points -- Lumbari and Mithapanirchhara beaches near Marine Drive in Sadar Union, according to Md Saiful Islam, chief (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station.

Their identities could not be immediately established.

Local fisherman Nurul Islam said he saw several people gathered around the bodies lying on the sand when he went to the beach in the morning.

"It did not appear that the bodies had drifted in with the tide," he said.

"They may have been killed elsewhere and dumped on the beach."
