Dhaka, Oct. 21 -- Bangladesh's hopes of reaching the tri-series final ended in another batting collapse, as Afghanistan chased down 161 with 7 wickets and 87 balls to spare in Sharjah.

Needing a victory by at least 41 runs to qualify, Bangladesh slumped to 160 in 41.2 overs, suffering a fifth successive ODI defeat by Afghanistan.

Already beaten by Zimbabwe in their opener, Bangladesh bow out of the tournament, leaving Afghanistan to face the hosts in Friday's final.

Stand-in captain Towhid Hridoy chose to bat after winning the toss, making three changes and reshuffling the order. But the experiment unravelled.

Tanzid Hasan edged Yamin Ahmadzai behind for one, and Soumya Sarkar was bowled first ball. Bangladesh were 6 for 2.
