Dhaka, Feb. 12 -- Three parliamentary election candidates who live within half a kilometre of each other in the same village have cast their votes at the same polling station in Narsingdi.

Khairul Kabir Khokon of the BNP, Md Ibrahim Bhuiyan of the Jamaat-e-Islami and Shirin Akter of the Gono Odhikar Parishad are all vying for the Narsingdi-1 seat.

All three are from Chinispur village in the Sadar Upazila.

They voted at the same centre on Thursday and later toured the area together, greeting voters.

Each said polling had been peaceful and expressed confidence about their chances.

Their unusual proximity has become a talking point in Chinispur and across the constituency, where eight candidates are in the race.
