Dhaka, March 16 -- Detectives in Bogura have arrested three men for allegedly impersonating the Sirajganj superintendent of police on WhatsApp and demanding money from local businessmen.

The suspects were arrested from Sherpur Upazila of Bogura on Sunday afternoon, Sirajganj's Additional Superintendent of Police Hafizur Rahman told a press conference at the Sadar Police Station on Monday.

Police identified the detainees as Sohel Rana, 34, Badshah Akanda, 50, and Md Ripon, 22. All three are residents of Sherpur.

Two mobile phones and Tk 3,000 in cash were recovered from their possession at the time of arrest, police said.
