Dhaka, Oct. 6 -- This year's Durga Puja will be an "acid test" for law-enforcing agencies, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has said.

The festival will be the first major Hindu religious celebration since the BNP-led government took office, putting added focus on security arrangements across the capital.

The DMP will keep a heightened watch over every Puja venue in Dhaka to ensure the celebrations pass off peacefully, he said at a security and traffic management meeting at DMP Headquarters on Tuesday.

According to a DMP media statement, the commissioner ordered comprehensive security measures, including CCTV cameras at Puja venues and body-worn cameras for security personnel.
