Bangladesh, Aug. 20 -- Tawfique Nawaz, husband of Awami League leader and former minister Dipu Moni, has been laid to rest at Banani Graveyard.

He was buried in his father Aminur Rahman's grave amidst rain at 2:45pm on Thursday, right beside the grave of his mother Khairun Nessa.

Dipu Moni, released on parole for the occasion, was present at the graveyard.

Their daughter Dipannita Nawaz scattered soil over the grave.

Dipu Moni and others then joined a prayer led by the graveyard mosque Imam Maulana Omar Faruk.

After the prayer, she sought blessings for her husband.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police and prison security personnel maintained tight security throughout the burial.
