Dhaka, Dec. 27 -- Tarique Rahman has arrived at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka to be with his ailing mother, former prime minister Khaleda Zia.

He reached the hospital around 9:40pm on Saturday, accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan said.

The BNP's acting chief is expected to return to his Gulshan residence after spending some time with his mother, he added.

Tarique returned to Bangladesh from the United Kingdom on Dec 25, ending a long exile, arriving with his family.

He landed at Shahjalal International Airport around noon aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight.
