Dhaka, Feb. 14 -- Tarique Rahman has said the new government will frame its foreign policy strictly by safeguarding the interests of the country and its people.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, the BNP supremo said national interest would come first in "all diplomatic engagements".
The conference followed the BNP's landslide victory in the election, in which the party secured an absolute majority by winning 209 seats.
The event was held in the ballroom of InterContinental Dhaka, with BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury also present.
Khosru elaborated on the party's foreign policy stance, saying the BNP did not believe in country-centric alignment.
