Dhaka, June 26 -- Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has held a one-on-one meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with his foreign affairs advisor calling it "unprecedented".

The private meeting followed a 50-minute delegation-level bilateral at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday, the final day of Tarique's state visit, Foreign Affairs Advisor Humaiun Kobir told bdnews24.com.

"This is absolutely unprecedented. A separate one-on-one meeting after the bilateral talks has never happened before.

"From this meeting alone, you can gauge how much importance they place on our prime minister and how China sees Bangladesh."
