Dhaka, Sept. 25 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has met his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif in New York, with the two leaders discussing bilateral ties and opportunities for greater cooperation.

The meeting took place at the United Nations headquarters on Thursday morning, according to the prime minister's Assistant Press Secretary KM Nazmul Haque.

Nazmul said the two leaders discussed various aspects of Bangladesh-Pakistan relations, as well as regional and international developments.

They also exchanged views on areas where the two countries could work together for the benefit of their people.
