Dhaka, May 2 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has arrived in Sylhet on his first visit to the region since assuming office.

Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said he landed in Sylhet at 10am on Saturday on a private jet.

He was received at Osmani International Airport by Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Labour and Expatriates' Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Quiyum Choudhury, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Mashiur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Sarwoer Alam and other senior officials.

Rumon had earlier said the premier left his Gulshan residence at 9:15am and travelled to Sylhet by air with his wife Zubaida Rahman.
