Dhaka, Dec. 21 -- Students at Rajshahi University have padlocked the offices of six deans they allege are aligned with the Awami League, demanding their resignation.

The action was taken on Sunday afternoon after the university administration decided to extend the deans' terms despite the expiry of their official tenures, student representatives said.

Among those involved were Rajshahi University Senate member Akil Bin Taleb, Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU) Cultural Affairs Secretary Zaid Hasan Zoha and Associate Cultural Secretary Rakibul Hasan, along with a few others.
