Dhaka, March 18 -- Thunder has rolled over Dhaka as lightning flashed across the sky, and rain pelted streets as nor'wester winds whipped through the capital.

Dhaka and surrounding areas experienced rain on Wednesday evening, as gusty winds from the north and northwest created conditions for nor'wester storms, meteorologists said.

Shahnaz Sultana, a senior weather official, told bdnews24.com: "From Wednesday through Sunday, scattered rainfall is expected across the country.

"Winds from the north and northwest. brought isolated showers, stormy winds, thunderstorms or hail in different areas."
