Dhaka, April 2 -- A day after being sent to jail, singer Abu Jahid, also known as Jahid Antu, has secured bail in a case over the "sexual assault" of a student from Eden College.

Dhaka's Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order after a hearing on Thursday, said Prosecution Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Tahmina Akter.

Dhaka Bar Association General Secretary Nazrul Islam represented Antu and sought bail for his client. However, Advocate Jasim Uddin, representing the plaintiff, opposed the bail plea.

"After hearing both sides, the court granted bail on a bond of Tk 500 until the next scheduled date, Apr 19," said SI Tahmina.

The plaintiff also appeared at the hearing and objected to the bail, Tahmina added.
