Dhaka, April 10 -- A sixth-grade schoolgirl has been found bound inside a locked classroom in Kushtia's Mirpur Upazila, in an incident that has triggered allegations of rape and a police investigation.
Kushtia General Hospital doctors, who later treated the 11-year-old, said preliminary examinations indicated signs consistent with sexual assault.
According to Mirpur Police chief Md Shahidul Islam, the girl was recovered around 8pm from a room on the third floor of a school building at Chatargacha.
At the hospital, Resident Medical Officer Dr Hossain Imam said the child was first referred from Mirpur Upazila Health Complex and brought to the hospital around 1am on Friday.
