Dhaka, Feb. 24 -- Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shafiqur Rahman has accused President Mohammed Shahabuddin of "withholding key details" about the dramatic events of Aug 5, 2024, and the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister.

Shafiqur raised questions over "contradictions" in the president's statements.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Shafiqur wrote that the president had failed to acknowledge what he had told political leaders present at Bangabhaban that day and what he later informed the nation.

"The statements he made to the leaders present regarding the resignation of the fallen and fugitive prime minister, and what he later told the nation, have not been acknowledged in his current remarks," Shafiqur said.
