Dhaka, June 25 -- Patience has proved key for Shadman Islam, who stood firm in the first session even as Sri Lanka picked up a couple of wickets at the other end.

Shadman picked his moments to score, dispatching seven boundaries before lunch to rack up an unbeaten 43 runs off 86 balls to take Bangladesh to 71/2 on Wednesday.

The Sri Lankan attack of Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando proved very good with the new ball, restricting the Tigers in the early overs. Asitha picked up the wicket of Anamul Haque for a duck as well.

Mominul Haque (21) came down to support Shadman and saw off the pacers before the two picked up the tempo against the spinners.
