Dhaka, Feb. 21 -- Brahmanbaria-2 MP Rumeen Farhana has allegedly been prevented from laying a wreath at the Shaheed Minar in her constituency during the first watch of Language Martyrs' Day.

The incident occurred at the Sarail Upazila Shaheed Minar premises around 11:45pm on Friday when a group of BNP activists allegedly shredded her floral tribute.

As tensions flared, the lawmaker was forced to leave the monument under a security escort provided by her own supporters.

Video footage shows Rumeen arriving at the monument shortly before midnight to honour the language martyrs.
