Dhaka, April 10 -- Police say a van driver was killed in Rajshahi after a passenger struck him with a brick for not stopping quickly enough when signalled.

Locals caught the suspect, 55-year-old Mujibur Rahman, and handed him over to the police after a mob beating.

The incident took place around 8:30am in front of the Pathak Club in Belgachi Purbapara in Mohanpur Upazila, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Mudasser Hossain Khan of Mohanpur Police Station.

The deceased, 44-year-old Alam Ali, was a resident of Belgachi village.

According to police and witnesses, Mujibur had signalled Alam to stop his moving van.

When Alam pulled over a short distance ahead instead of stopping exactly where indicated, Mujibur became enraged.
