Dhaka, June 10 -- Showers brought on by the monsoon winds have heralded the last week of the summer and the start of the rainy season in different parts of Bangladesh.

Rainfall was recorded in different parts of the Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions on Wednesday, said Meteorologist Md Tariful Newaz Kabir of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

Pointing out that the influence of the southwest monsoon has brought on the rainy season, he told bdnews24.com in the afternoon: "The southwest monsoon has advanced up to the Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions.
