Dhaka, March 10 -- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested in Rangpur town a key suspect in a case filed over raping a schoolgirl by luring her with wedlock at Lalmonirhat's Hatribandha Upazila.

RAB-13 Senior Assistant Director Biplob Kumar Goswami said the elite force arrested 22-year-old Md Mamun, a resident of the Upazila's Ketkibari, in Rangpur town's Lalbagh from outside a superstore on Monday.

The suspect had repeatedly approached the 10th grader with marriage proposals while she was on her way to school, the RAB official said on Tuesday, adding that Mamun later lured her to the house of one of his relatives on Jan 25.
