Dhaka, May 13 -- President Mohammad Shahabuddin, who is in the United Kingdom for medical treatment, has had a heart blockage detected and treated with angioplasty and stent placement.
His personal physician AKM Faizul Haque informed the Bangabhaban Press Office that the president is now in "stable and satisfactory condition".
He said the procedure was carried out on Tuesday afternoon at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge under the supervision of interventional cardiologist Stephen Hooley.
During an angiogram, doctors identified a blockage in the heart and immediately performed angioplasty, inserting a stent.
