Bangladesh, Aug. 27 -- Police have sought to keep Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) vice-president candidate Jalal Ahmed, widely known as "Jwalamoy Jalal", in jail following his arrest over an alleged murder attempt on his roommate.

Shahbagh Police Sub-inspector Asadul Islam, the investigating officer, filed the plea on Wednesday.

Jalal was produced in court and placed in custody, with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Minhajur Rahman expected to hear the prosecution's request.
