Bangladesh, Aug. 26 -- Police say they were attacked by armed "robbers" while patrolling the Meghna River in Munshiganj's Gajaria.
The incident took place on Monday evening near Jamalpur village, where members of a gang reportedly opened fire on a police boat patrolling from a temporary camp.
Gajaria Police Station chief (OC) Md Anwar Alam Azad said, "Led by Piyas, around 30 to 35 robbers on five to six trawlers fired at police. They also exploded four to five crude bombs. Police then retaliated."
"We fired about 24 rounds. None of our personnel were injured. I can't say whether any of the 'criminals' were hit," the OC added.
