Dhaka, May 1 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has joined a workers' rally organised by the ruling BNP to mark May Day.
The event, organised by the party's labour wing Jatiotabadi Sramik Dal in Dhaka's Naya Paltan on Friday, serves as the BNP's largest public show of strength in the capital since its landslide victory in the general election held on Feb 12.
The programme began around 2:30pm, with BNP chief Tarique set to address the event as chief guest.
Workers from industrial belts in surrounding districts, including Gazipur, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Munshiganj and Manikganj, joined the gathering, organisers said.
