Dhaka, March 9 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed the authorities to make Zakat management in Bangladesh more organised and effective.

The instruction came during a meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, said the prime minister's Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.

The prime minister also heard about the experience of working with zakat funds from Shaykh Ahmadullah, chairman of the As-Sunnah Foundation.

The discussion focused on strategic distribution methods to transform Zakat into a tool for permanent economic self-reliance, Rumon said.
