Dhaka, March 30 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has dispatched a formal letter to Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressing Bangladesh's solidarity with the Gulf nation amid the escalating regional conflicts in the Middle East.

The premier's Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir handed over the letter during a courtesy meeting with Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi in Doha on Monday, according to a media release.

"In the letter, the prime minister conveyed Bangladesh's solidarity with the leadership, government and brotherly people of Qatar in the context of the current regional situation," the foreign ministry media statement read.
