Bangladesh, July 19 -- One person has died of dengue over the past 24 hours, while 242 more patients have been admitted to hospitals with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total number of dengue patients admitted to hospitals across the country this year has reached 10,012.

DGHS data shows that 33 people have died of dengue so far this year, including 15 deaths recorded in July alone.

In its bulletin issued on Sunday, the DGHS said the 242 new hospital admissions were recorded in the 24 hours until 8am on Saturday.
