Dhaka, June 5 -- A clash has erupted in Narail's Lohagara Upazila over "local dominance", leaving at least 15 people injured and several houses vandalised.

The incident has been brought under control after police deployment.

The violence broke out at Matiadanga village under Kotakol Union on Thursday at midnight, Lohagara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ajit Kumar Roy said.

He added that the situation has since calmed after police intervention.

Citing local residents, he said a long-running dispute over local dominance had been simmering between two local groups known as the Munshi group and the Molla group.
