Dhaka, Oct. 16 -- MPO-listed teachers and staff have postponed their planned march towards the State Guest House Jamuna, citing fears that "opportunists" could turn the demonstration into chaos.

The protesters have planned a fast unto death from Friday.

The march had been announced with a deadline of 5:00pm on Thursday, the fifth day of the protest, but was later suspended.

Delawar Hossain Azizi, member secretary of the MPO Education Nationalisation Alliance, conveyed the decision to assembled teachers at the Central Shaheed Minar.

He announced that from 2:00pm Friday, participants would begin a hunger strike, saying: "We will not leave until our demands are met; our bodies will remain here."
