Dhaka, Sept. 30 -- Controversial Member of Parliament Gazi Nazrul Islam has reached a settlement with the family of his second wife Mariam Khatun in a case over abetting her suicide, his lawyer has said.

Raising this issue in court on Wednesday, lawyer Mahbubur Rahman also said that MP Nazrul and his first wife Maksuda Islam will seek bail.

The bail hearing was held in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah.

Defence lawyer Mahbubur told reporters, "We sought bail on the condition of Nazrul and Maksuda Islam's settlement. They are not involved in the incident.
