Dhaka, March 9 -- Relatives of a woman who died after giving birth at a private hospital in Gazipur's Sreepur have vandalised the facility and blocked a road, alleging medical negligence.

The protests broke out on Monday afternoon as residents joined the family of 25-year-old Ruma Akter to block the Mawna-Kaliakair road.

Traffic on the busy route was disrupted for hours before police arrived and brought the situation under control.

The incident occurred at Life Care Hospital in Mawna Chowrasta.

According to Ruma's husband Manik Mia she was admitted early on Sunday.

"She gave birth to a son through surgery around 10am, but the hospital staff kept her inside the operating theatre for a long time and did not allow us to see her," he sai...
