Dhaka, June 14 -- A mother and her daughter have been hacked to death in their own home in Chattogram's Anwara Upazila.

The incident occurred in Purba Konnara village in Paroiakora Upazila on Saturday night, police said.

The dead have been identified as local residents Annie Barua, 40, and her 16-year-old daughter Priyanti Barua.

Mahmudul Hasan, assistant superintendent of Chattogram District Police (Anwara Circle), said unknown perpetrators entered the home at night and slashed at the two with sharp weapons. Police went to the scene and found the bloodied bodies of the two victims.
