Bangladesh, July 19 -- Police have recovered the throat-slit body of an Awami League leader in Ataikula, Pabna, a day after he went missing.

Mojibur Rahman, chief of Ataikula Police Station said the body was recovered around 4:30pm on Saturday from a small jungle in the Uttar Para area of Ratanpur under Bhulbaria Union.

The deceased, Abdus Shukur, 40, was a native of Ratanpur village. He served as the vice-president of Ward No. 9 Awami League in Bhulbaria Union.

Citing family members and locals, police said Shukur left his home at around 9pm on Friday. When he did not return late into the night, his family searched all likely places and contacted relatives, but were unable to find him.
