Dhaka, Jan. 9 -- Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has declared an annual income of around Tk 1.2 million and total assets worth more than Tk 15 million in his election affidavit.
A comparison with his previous affidavit shows that while his annual income has increased by about Tk 52,000 over seven years, the value of his assets has grown more than two-and-a-half times.
Fakhrul is contesting in the election from the Thakurgaon-1 constituency as the BNP candidate. He was elected from the same seat in the 1996, 2001 and 2018 elections, although he did not take oath after winning in 2018.
According to the affidavit, Fakhrul is 77 years old and holds a postgraduate degree.
