Dhaka, April 20 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has left for China at the invitation of the Chinese government.

He departed from Shahjalal International Airport on a China Airlines flight at 10:20pm on Sunday, according to his Assistant Personal Secretary Younus Ali.

Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen saw him off at the airport, he said.

A 19-member high-level BNP delegation has recently travelled to China at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

The delegation includes Ismail Zabiullah, a member of the BNP chairperson's advisory council, while Fakhrul is leading the team.
