Dhaka, Sept. 27 -- Shah Ali Police chief has been withdrawn amid questions over alleged police negligence during an attack in which the Radda MCH office and health centre in Dhaka's Mirpur were looted and demolished.

An order from Dhaka Metropolitan Police headquarters said officer Jahangir Alam had been withdrawn from Shah Ali Police Station and attached to DMP headquarters.

The move came after DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said police were investigating whether there had been any negligence or failure on their part in the incident.

After visiting the site on Saturday, Mosleh said police were examining whether officers had arrived in time after learning about the incident.
