Dhaka, May 14 -- Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury has directed all factories to pay workers' Eid bonuses and monthly wages by May 21 before Eid-ul-Azha.

He issued the directive at a meeting held at the CIRDAP Auditorium on Thursday.

"The government is committed to ensuring safe and hassle-free Eid travel for workers," he said.

"To avoid traffic congestion on highways, factories have been instructed to grant holidays in phases based on understanding between owners and workers."
