Dhaka, Sept. 22 -- The suicide abetment case filed over the death of Mariam Khatun, the second wife of Satkhira MP Gazi Nazrul Islam, has been transferred to the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police for investigation.

Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Ibne Mizan said on Tuesday that the case had been handed over to the DB on Monday night.

Detectives will now question suspects Nazrul and his first wife Maksuda Islam under remand in police custody.

Police recovered Mariam's hanging body from a flat at NAM Bhaban near parliament on Sunday evening. Later that night, law enforcers took Nazrul and Maksuda into custody.
