Bangladesh, Sept. 1 -- A Dhaka court has sent a man to prison until his death for raping his daughter seven years ago in Keraniganj.

Dhaka Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 Judge Munshi Md Mashiar Rahman delivered the verdict on Monday.

In addition to the jail sentence, the court ordered convict Md Rubel to pay Tk 100,000 as a fine. He will have to serve an additional year in jail in case he fails to pay.

Md Ershad Alam, a prosecutor at the tribunal, said: "We are satisfied with the court's decision to sentence the accused to imprisonment until death. We hope that this verdict will set an example for society."
