Bangladesh, Aug. 12 -- A Dhaka court has sentenced Masum Mia aka Kalu to life in prison for the murder of grocery storekeeper Abdul Quddus during a robbery in Siddique Bazar 10 years ago.

Another suspect, Yunus Mia, has been acquitted as the charge against him was not proven.

Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sadekin Habib Bappi delivered the verdict in the case on Wednesday.

Court Bench Assistant Md Abul Kashem said that, in addition to the life sentence, Masum has been fined Tk 10,000. If he does not pay, he will have to serve another year in prison.

Before the verdict was announced, the two accused were produced in court. The verdict was delivered in their presence.
