Dhaka, May 11 -- A Dhaka court has sentenced a man to life in prison for killing his wife's lover in Tejgaon about 14 years ago.

Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mahmudul Islam delivered the verdict in the case on Monday.

The suspect, Md Shahadat Hossain, has been sentenced to life in prison and fined Tk 10,000.

If he defaults on the fine, it will add another three months to his jail sentence.

Aminul Islam Sarkar, additional public prosecutor (APP) of the concerned court, said Shahadat was brought from jail to the court for the verdict. After the verdict, he was taken back to jail with a sentencing warrant.

According to the case details, Shahadat's wife was having an extramarital affair with a man named Anis.
