Bangladesh, Sept. 5 -- An unidentified man has died after being hit by a train while crossing railway tracks in Dhaka's Karwan Bazar.

The incident occurred around 11:30pm on Thursday.

The man, believed to be around 55, was critically injured and later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

He was declared dead around 1am, according to Inspector Md Faruk, chief of the hospital police outpost.

Authorities are working to identify him.

Faruk said the body had been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Kader, a vegetable trader in Karwan Bazar who helped take the man to hospital, said the accident happened on the railway tracks behind the market.
